Microsoft's TAG Experiment
I'm experimenting with Microsoft's TAG reader and generator.
The one thing I prefer about QR codes vs MS TAG is that QR codes are square and they scale better than a multi color code with diagonal lines that alias.

You might try rendering the tag using an different format, such as PDF.
